The Preschool class hears the book called the Night Before Thanksgiving. The class then proceeds to create their turkey feathers using paint and cut them out. Backgrounds are created out of water paint and the face is colored and everything is glued together.
The Kindergarten class learns about the Pop Artist Jasper Johns and look at his paintings of letters, numbers, and flags. Tje students created their own paintings using letters.
The 1st Grade Class learned about the Watercolor Painter Winslow Homer and his water scenes that he loved.
The class learned about the Architect Frank Lloyd Wright and we looked at his House called Falling Water. We talked about what an architect does and the students created their own houses.
The 3rd Grade class learned about the Artist Vincent VanGogh and looked at one of his most famous paintings called Starry Starry night. We looked at his impressionistic style of choppy brush strokes. The class is creating Starry Starry night using paint and pallette knifes.
The class learned about the style of Optical Art and looked at the artist Bridgitte Riley and her Optical Paintings. Each student created their own optical art.
The students learned about the artist Alexander Calder and his mobiles and stabiles. The students are creating their own sculpture combining the two.
The 6th Grade class learned about the oriental dragons vs. the western dragons. Each student created their own oriental dragon sculpture.
The 7th Grade class learns about the artist Dale Chihuly and look at his glass pieces. Each student uses plexiglass and mylar to create their own glass looking art piece.
The 8th Grade Students learn about the drawing technique called Contour Drawing and practice using their hands first and then move on to faces. Each student picked out a photo of someone they like and drew that photo using the contour style. The students then used wire to create a frame and the drawing.
